Ludo, sorry, I thought you are from Germany....
I use a 3/16" twice the prop - rear peg distance. It neets some nose weight, but you will get nice long flights with this lenght.
Cross my fingerst that you can try yours soon.

On the workbench right now...
Re: On the workbench right now...
Strictly speaking this is just OFF the workbench as I have finished it! I needed a new legal eagle for competitions at Clayton Green so I have built this "Chad". Nothing particularly special to say about it. It's nice to have actually finished something!

Re: On the workbench right now...
I have also been working on a replacement for my pistachio "Screamin Meany". It has been damaged and glued back together too many times. I also wanted to try making a pistachio which might be a little more competitive. The "screamin Meany" was frustrating as it got such low static scores (compared to everyone else's pistachios) even though it flew well. At last years Indoor scale Nats it came joint second in flying but a last place static score meant 7th out of eight entries.
So, a more complex model and better static docs etc might give me a better chance, if it flies of course.....
This is where I am up to with my pistachio WACO SRE, based on the Walt Mooney peanut model scaled down to 8"span and with various necessary alterations to allow for the smaller scale. Everything here weighs 1.77g so I am hoping to end up with a not too heavy model.

Re: On the workbench right now...
That looks superb, Tim. I know nothing about pistachios but the weight sounds extremely low to me, especially for a scale biplane with spats! It's looking very neat.
(I really like the Chad too- you seem to be on a building roll at the moment!)

Re: On the workbench right now...
My Christmas present from my son.
Guillows FW 190
weighed the kit wood, 20g and the 1/16 stringer wood was totally unusable, nicely cut with curves .
raided my own stocks and used the parts as templates. the kit wood was so hard it even blunted my sandpaper.
I could not bring myself to use the plastic nose cone so made my own out of balsa with some built in down and right. pleased with the result.
It will be a wheels up as I think the u/c always looks ungainly.
next job to cover the beastie.

Re: On the workbench right now...
That is a very nice looking 190 Roger. I like the wood cowling instead of the plastic Guillows one, they let down Guillows kits IMO. Yours looks very good.
Test flight soon Ludo? Let us know how she goes.
I have got a little further with the Pistachio WACO SRE. Covering and shrinking/ banana oil is done and I am currently waiting for the first coat of paint to dry enough so I can do another.
